Ellen White was born on November 26, 1827, in Gorham, Maine, and spent her childhood in a deeply religious family. At the age of nine, she suffered a serious facial injury that affected her health and interrupted her formal education. Despite these challenges, she developed a strong faith and became involved in the Millerite movement, which anticipated the second coming of Christ. Following the Great Disappointment of 1844, she emerged as one of the leaders who helped organize the movement that later became the Seventh-day Adventist Church. In 1846, she married James Springer White, with whom she worked closely in building the denomination.
